John Looman, 61, of Teutopolis, Illinois passed away Friday, December 1 at his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic, Lillyville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the church with a parish prayer service to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Center in Effingham.

John was the son of Jack Looman and Erma (Noble) Moored. He married Clara Ann (Ruholl) November 22, 1975. Together they raised four children. John worked for Effingham Truck Sales for 40 years and retired from Rush. He then filled his days working part time for I-70. He was also the owner/operator of Looman Tires. John was a charismatic story teller who always enjoyed being with friends and family. He was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. John was a wine hobbyist who enjoyed museums and history.

John is survived by his wife, Clara of Teutopolis; sons, Paul (wife Cheryl) of Effingham and Jack (wife Megan) of Dieterich; daughter, Jessica (husband Brent) Budde of Effingham; sisters, Marri (husband Gary) Lidy of Effingham and Penny (husband David) Koontz of St. Elmos; grandchildren, Tyler, Gabriel, Kaitlin, Sebastian, Loghan and Madison.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Looman and Erma Moored; son, Brian Looman; brother, Lane Gomber and sister, Rickie Little.
