Monroe Oren Earnest, 75, of Dundas died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Private family services will be held with burial in the Sumner Cemetery in Sumner. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.  

Monroe was born September 30, 1942 in Sumner, the son of George E. and Hazel Mae (Hodges) Earnest. He married Mildred Matlock August 18, 1989, in Henderson, Kentucky and she preceded him in death November 20, 2010. Monroe was a machinest at Roadmaster in Olney for many years.

Monroe is survived by sons, Monroe (wife Cora Mae) Earnest, Jr. of Dundas and Thomas Earnest of Bremerton, Washington; sisters, Lavina Hundley of Olney, Mary Ann Tracy of Olney, Lila Mae Piper of Sumner, Wanda Chitwood of Sumner, Effie Carie of Jeffersonville, Ky. and Thelma McVaigh of Sumner; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
