Peter M. Scholl (66) of Effingham, formerly of Chicago

Peter M. Scholl, 66, of Effingham, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

As per Peter’s wishes, the family will have private services. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund.

Peter was born on September 15, 1951, in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Williams) Scholl. He was united in marriage to April Bennett on October 6, 2012. Peter managed a Dr. Scholl Foot Comfort Shop. He also had worked at a Handy Andy, but ended up retiring from Home Depot. He loved cooking and spending time fishing and boating on Lake Sara. Everyone always loved Peter’s smile, positive attitude, and fantastic cooking. He enjoyed making other people happy.

Peter is survived by his wife, April Scholl of Effingham; step-children, Dawn (Bryon) Lawrence, Adam (Chrissy) Bennett, Jennifer (Dustin) Henderson; step-grandchildren, Austin and Chloe Bennett and Lauren and River Henderson; siblings, Sr. Janice Scholl, Gail (Reine) Thornquist, Patricia (Donald) Weiman, Robert (Colleen) Scholl, Richard (Mary) Scholl, Susan (Kurt) LaBotz, Diane Scholl, and Gary Scholl; brother-in-law, James (Sandy) Derrickson; goddaughter and niece, Cindi and nephew, Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
