Lela Ethel Fern (Tucker) Stoneburner, 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at 3:45 p.m. at Shelbyville Manor on Monday, November 20, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25 at the Cowden Free Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Tucker and Reverend Steve Neville officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Cowden Free Methodist Church.  Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Cowden Free Methodist Church. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden.

Fern was born on March 14, 1922, in Rosamond, IL, to Arthur and Annis (Hadley) Tucker. She was one of seven children. She graduated from Cowden High School with the Class of 1940. Fern married Franklin Dale Stoneburner on December 24, 1943 in Vandalia, IL. Franklin passed away on March 10, 1998. Fern worked at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc., and in the Shelby County Treasurer’s Office in Shelbyville. She enjoyed being a homemaker, a farmer’s wife doting on her loved ones, gardening, crocheting, and living life to the fullest. Fern was a member of the Cowden Free Methodist Church, Cowden Senior Citizens and Herrick HCE.

Fern is survived by her two daughters:  Shirley (Jerry) Aldridge of Herrick and Charlotte (Larry) Blickem of Cowden; one sister, Lois (Don) Shipp of Ulman, MO; grandchildren:  Leasa (Gus) Mattka of Cowden, LeAnne (Tad) Dagen of Herrick, Lola (Stuart) Thompson of Herrick, Lane (Trisha) Blickem of Mattoon; two step-grandchildren:  Janna (Dennis) Drew of Decatur and Jerry (Amy) Aldridge of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren:  Krysta (Travis) Rauch, Trevor Mattka, Desiree (Alex) Banning, Tyler (April) Dagen, Royce Thompson, Brent Thompson; three great-great-grandchildren:  Slade and Ace Rauch, and Hannah Banning arriving in January and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; parents, Arthur and Annis Tucker; brothers:  Hadley (Eleanor) Tucker, Herbert (Donna) Tucker, Corwin (Mary) Tucker and Louis (Juanita) Tucker and sister, Leah (Frank) Barnes.
