Horace “H.O.” White, 85, of Mason, IL, passed away at 4:06 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home in Mason surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 27 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Leith Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a veteran affiliation of your choice.

H.O. was born on February 16, 1932, in Durant, OK, the son of Henry Elick and Ruth M. (Snellgrove) White. He was united in marriage to Mary Ella Nelson on May 27, 1967 in Sullivan, IL. H.O. served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. H.O. was proud to be a union carpenter out of Union Local 198 in Dallas, TX for forty-four years. While in Dallas, H.O. was a volunteer police officer for seven years. He also loved woodworking and restoring the family farm. He was member of the Church of Christ for sixty years and Watson Masonic Lodge. What H.O. cherished the most was spending time with family and grandchildren.

Surviving include his wife Mary Ella Nelson White of Mason; sons, Lance (Debbie) Elledge of Van Alstyne, TX, and Shawn (Debbie) White of Decatur, TX; daughter, Veronica (James) Hazzard of Fisher; grandchildren, Desiree (Clayton) Jones, Conner White, Kaia White, Ian Hazzard, Renae White, Evan Hazzard, Ella Hazzard, and Ander Hazzard; great-grandchildren, Ashton Jones and Reagan Jones. Siblings, Smith (Berniece) White, Billie Ann Paddock, Joe (Shirley) White, Sylvia Lorance, Syble Clark, Sue Edwards, all of Oklahoma; siblings, Ken (Ruth) White, Nancy (Stanley) Perry, Jackie Paul (Mardi) White, Ben (Karen) White, Bonnie (David) Myers, Pattie (Bill) Jenkins, and Pat (Kayla) White, all of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Doris Colleen White; brothers, James White and Oscar White, and siblings in infancy, Margaret Ruth White and Ronnie Ray White.
