C. Leon Fulk, 69 of Effingham, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Leon was born March 13, 1948 in Ingraham, the son of Charles and Nina Mae (Birch) Fulk. He married Margaret A. Klein on February 21, 1970 and she survives. Leon served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Effingham American Legion Post #120 and a lifelong member of the VFW #1769. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and a foreman for the City of Effingham, Street and Sewer Department for many years.

Leon is survived by his wife, Margaret of Effingham; daughter, Mona Steffen of Effingham; sister, Carolyn (Lloyd) Levitt of Effingham; three grandchildren, Mallory (Marty) Jansen of Mason, Matt Steffen (Katie Meador) of Effingham and Marranda Steffen (Dakota Kincaid) of Effingham.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dorothy Niebrugge, Letha Robinson and Rosie Homann.
