Paula Gene Reitz Hotz, age 71, of Fairview Heights, IL, formerly of Farina, IL, passed away at 3:09 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 peacefully at her home, with family by her side.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 27 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A Women of the Moose Lodge Ritual will be observed. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 27 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Pastor John Temple officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4 at Farina Cemetery in Farina, IL. Jim Giffin will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, to “The Heart for the House Project” fund at Faith Family Church, 704 North Green Mount Road, Shiloh, IL, 62221, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Paula was born on December 5, 1945 in Farina, Illinois, the daughter of George and Geneva, nee Schwabe, Reitz. Paula was a wonderful grandmother, loving mother and sister, devoted wife, aunt and friend. She was an active member of the Belleville/Swansea Moose Lodge and the Lincoln Trail Decorative Artists group. She enjoyed serving on the Bereavement Team at Faith Family Church where she was a loyal member. One of her greatest loves along with her family was her passion for animals. She enjoyed being a professional dog handler and breeder. She showed Dobermans for over twenty years and was on the board of directors for the Doberman Pinscher Club of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Geneva Reitz; two brothers, George “Sonny” and Stanley “Butch” Reitz; four sisters, Anna Mae Jahraus, Elsie Meyer, Mary Lou Lentz and Glennadene Hamel.

Surviving are her husband, Armin “Butch” Hotz of Fairview Heights, Illinois; daughter, Emily Hotz Menn (husband Michael) of Fairview Heights; three grandchildren, Christopher, Lindsay and Mackenzie Menn; and 12 nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
