Geneva Ann Dhom, 80, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:58 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 27 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the church and one hour before the mass. In loving memory of Geneva, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton.

Geneva was born February 16, 1937, in Ste. Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Monica (Ritz) Radke. She married James Dhom February 16, 1963, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. Geneva graduated from Newton Community High School in 1956 and worked as a dispatcher for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for 33 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and traveling.

Geneva is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Dhom of Newton; sons, Brian Dhom and Kevin Dhom (fiancé Kim Mason), of Newton; grandchildren, Zachary Dhom of St. Louis, Missouri, Hannah Dhom (fiancé Dylan Davidson) of Newton and Brycen (wife Jordan) Dhom of Maryville; brothers, Delmar (wife Theresa) Radke of Springfield, Maurice (wife Vanna) Radke of St. Peters, Missouri and Kenneth (wife Charlene) Radke of Findley, Ohio.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon Dhom; brothers, Loraine “Bud” and Maynard Radke.
