Phillip Lee Schuetter, age 57, of Evansville, Indiana, and formerly of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 4:46 PM - Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway in Newburg, Indiana.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Thursday, October 26 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Phillip, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Phillip was born on August 15, 1960, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Robert and Shirley (Leggans) Schuetter. He was a member of the Class of 1978 from Newton Community High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Phillip worked as an energy management engineer for many years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. Phillip was an avid fisherman, enjoyed reading and studying astrology. He was always willing to lend a hand and was a mentor to many.

Phillip is survived by: Mother – Shirley Schuetter of Newton, Illinois; Brothers – Jeff (Jani) Schuetter of Nashville, Tennessee, David (Nancy) Schuetter of Newton, Illinois and Michael (Jennifer) Schuetter of Evansville, Indiana; Niece – Hanah Schuetter; Nephews – Isaac and Eli Schuetter.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father.
