Michael W. Ludwig, 95 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday evening, October 11, 2017 at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be made to the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665, of which he was a member for many years.

Michael was born September 29, 1922 in Sigel, the son of William A. and Marguerite (Hofman) Ludwig. He married Marie K. Nosbisch on September 1, 1948 and she survives. Michael served in the United States Navy during WWII and later earned his bachelors degree from the University of Illinois. He enjoyed a career in Aeronautical Engineering and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham.

Michael is survived by his wife, Marie of Effingham; son, Gerald (Sandra) Ludwig of Suwanee, GA; daughters, LuJean (Doug) Hileman of Midway, Utah and LeAnn (Mark) Lee of Stevenson Ranch, CA; brothers, Clem and James Ludwig, both of Sigel; sister, Julia (Fred) Murphy of North Little Rock, AR; granddaughter, Micaela.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Louis, Paul, Richard and Philip; sisters, Nona and Mary Lou.
