Milton Wade Sutter, 95, of Effingham, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Mattoon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 2 at the First Church of God, Effingham. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont with military rites by Gieseking-Schwertfeger VFW Post 7676. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Milton was born on Thursday, August 31, 1922 in Summit Township, rural Effingham to Reuben A. and Susie (Burch) Sutter. He married Ellen Louise Cox on June 29, 1946, and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2010. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was retired from farming and the ministry. He was a member of the First Church of God, Effingham, VFW Post 7676, Altamont, and American Legion Post 120, Effingham.

He is survived by: his son, Dwight Sutter, Effingham; daughter, Darlene Lofton, Effingham; grandchildren, Shane (Carmen) Sutter, Amanda Barrett, Joshua (Crystal) Sutter, William (Samantha) Lofton; great grandchildren, Chloe Sutter, Cooper Sutter, Renesa Barrett, Emerald Lofton, Oliver Eden, Beau Sutter, and Gunner Sutter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Milton was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter-in-law, Renesa Sutter; sisters, Naomi Bennett and Madonna Kelley.
