Vera A. Verdeyen, 82, of Altamont, died at 7:15 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Fr. Sunder Ery officiating with burial to follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012. Vera was born on February 12, 1930 in Effingham, the daughter of Glenn and Lillian (Peterson) Siddens. She married Robert W. Verdeyen on September 11, 1948 and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1987. She had been employed with the Altamont Garment Factory, Altamont IGA and with the Days Inn, Effingham as well as being a homemaker.
She is survived by her children; son; James (Susan) Verdeyen of Altamont, daughters; Diane (Robert) Cullom of Altamont and Nancy (Chuck) Schmidt of Mason, sister; Oma (Mervin) Ruff of Altamont, her grandchildren; Robby (Ericka) Dowds of Snyder, TX, Penny Dowds and friend Rodney Mislan of Effingham, Jason (Steffany) Cullom of Warrenton, MO, Justin Cullom of
Columbia, MO, Shannon (Chad) Mayfield of Brownstown, Scott Verdeyen, Travis (Kelly) Stone, Mandy (Jamie) Christy, Erich Schmidt and special friend Ashlyn Duckwitz all of Altamont, twenty great-grandchildren and also one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Andrea Calhoun and one granddaughter.
