William Lee Schwartz, age 64, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 PM - Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in New York, New York.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Saturday, September 23 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

William was born on July 10, 1953, in Newton, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Rose (Litzelman) Schwartz. He was a 1971 graduate of Newton Community High School and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. William served as a bank examiner for the State of Illinois, and retired after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois. William enjoyed traveling all over the world and loved the arts, especially music, theater and museums. He also enjoyed the exotic foods of his travels. In all of his travels, he still loved to go home to the community of Ste. Marie, which he loved dearly. William was a faithful St. Louis Cardinals fan.

William is survived by: Sister – Kathy Wente of Effingham, Illinois; Brothers – John (Donna) Schwartz of Normal, Illinois and Thomas (Sharon) Schwartz of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Sister-in-Law – Gloria Schwartz of Belleville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive.

William was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Schwartz.
