Bertha Marie Will (84) of Effingham

Bertha Marie Will, 84, of rural Effingham, Illinois passed away surrounded by her family at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 3 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, December 2 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6 p.m. parish rosary. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or the donor’s choice.

Bertha was born August 24, 1928 in Green Creek, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Schumacher) Schabbing. She married LeRoy J. Will August 16, 1952 in Green Creek. Bertha was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Council of Catholic Women and the Effingham Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 720. Bertha was a homemaker and was a school cook for the Teutopolis school district, retiring after 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and dancing with her husband.

Bertha is survived by her devoted husband, LeRoy and her four children, Donna (husband Dick) Rhodes of Effingham, Carol Beccue of Fairfield, Mike (wife Cheryl) of Sigel and Mark (wife Andrea) of Effingham. They have seven grandchildren, Travis and Cortney Rhodes, Kristina (husband Sean) Vaughn, Dylan, Bryce and Ryan (wife Keisha) Beccue and Connor Will; three great-grandchildren, Klaira and Jake Vaughn and Carter Beccue; sister-in-law, Lucy Probst of Wheeler.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Ungrund.
