Lois Jean Huelskoetter (90) of Effingham

Lois Jean Huelskoetter, 90, of Effingham died Monday morning, August 21, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Paul’s (Blue Point) Lutheran Cemetery in rural Altamont. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday, all at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center in Altamont or St. John’s Food Pantry in Effingham.

Lois was born on May 1, 1927, in Barry, IL, the daughter of Julian W. and Hannah Leora (Brown) Strubinger. She was united in marriage to John H. Huelskoetter on June 18, 1950, in Barry, IL. Lois worked as a secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, Marshall Clinic, and B. Mansfield and Co. She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was involved with the Effingham County Extension Association. She volunteered at the American Red Cross and served as an election judge. Lois loved to cook and excelled at it.

Lois is survived by her husband, John H. Huelskoetter of Effingham; daughter, Linda (Dennis) Marxmann of Effingham; sons, John M. (Teresa) Huelskoetter of Madison, VA, Jim (Heidi) Huelskoetter of Tallahassee, FL, and David  Huelskoetter of Effingham; grandchildren, Jonathan (Erica) Marxmann, Joanna (Rob) Davies, Sarah (Michael Kraemer) Huelskoetter, Thomas Huelskoetter, Emma Huelskoetter, Andrew Huelskoetter, Katie (Chinua) Suma, Jessie Huelskoetter, and Nichole (Jeff) Rognstad; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers.
