William F. "Bill' Swank, 75, of Neoga, formerly of Stewardson, died at 2:08am Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his residence.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 20 at the Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 2:30 PM in the church with Pastor Todd Krost officiating. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery of Neoga. The Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Baby Fold of Bloomington, IL and the Neoga School District Athletic Department.

Bill was born July 24, 1942, in Shelby County, the son of Floyd and Lorine (Kessler) Swank. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School and Eastern Illinois University, Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s degree in Administration. Bill married Margaret Ann Lenz, May 31, 1964, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg. He was a member of the Neoga Grace United Methodist Church and a retired teacher of 36 years for Neoga School District, where he taught math and coached. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and trap shooting.

Bill leaves his wife, Margaret, three children, Larry (Angel) Swank of Effingham, Cari (Kriss) Fearday of Sigel, Shari (Stan) Fearday of Sigel; one sister, Betty Quast of Plainfield, IL, one brother, John (Glenda) Swank of Washington, IL; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Swank was preceded in death by his parents.
