Cora Genevieve (Ward) Pruett, 93, of Brownstown, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at her daughter’s home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16 at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown with Jim Dann officiating. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Pruett was born on Friday, August 1, 1924 in Brownstown, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Smith) Ward. She married Ivan E. Pruett on April 19, 1943 in Vandalia. He passed away on November 6, 2005. She worked in Illiopolis at the powder plant making ammunition during WWII, while her husband served in the war in Germany. When he came home she devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

She is survived by: son, Galen (Glenna) Pruett, Vandalia; daughter, Sondra Thompson, Brownstown; Grandchildren, Ivan (Christina) Pruett, Jr., Brownstown, Shelly (Kevin) White, Brownstown, Terry (Angie) Thompson, Vandalia, Carla (Charlie) Hassebrock, Edgewood, Derek (Tara) Pruett, Brownstown, Dustin (Lynze) Pruett, Brownstown; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Ivan Ray Pruett and Larry Joe Pruett, Grandson Chaney Pruett, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
