Eva was born January 7, 1933 in Clinton County, Illinois, Breese Township, St. Rose Parish. She was the sixth of 10 children of William J. and Mathilda (Korte) Alberternst. She attended St. Rose Grade School and high school in Ruma, Illinois. She was a sister in the order of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ for several years. She then spent many years as a very excellent and dedicated nurse anesthetist, working in hospital in the Carolinas, Arizona and Central Illinois. In 1999, she and Dr. Lawrence were married.

Eva’s faith was very important to her, as well as her love of music and singing. She served as the organist at St. Anne’s Church during her retirement. Also during her retirement years, she especially loved her step grandsons, Landon and Clayton Oder, and spent many happy days caring for them. She was an avid reader all her life, and as a child, she read every book in the St. Rose School library. She could work the New York Times crossword puzzles. She had a charming sense of humor, loved Mexican food, gardening and bird watching. Most of all, she was a kind, caring and humble soul, true to God, herself and others.

Eva is survived by her two step-children, Jeff Oder (wife Colene) of Mason- and Katrina Mackey (husband Jimmy) of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Loretta Noll and Josephine Gutzler; four step grandchildren, Landon Oder, Clayton Oder, Josselyn Mackey and Dylan Mackey and many nieces and nephews. Surviving in-laws are Robert Lang, Patricia Alberternst, Anna Alberternst and Sybil Etchason.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. Lawrence Oder; her parents, William and Mathilda Alberternst; siblings, Dorothy Stone, Esther Sietz, Nora Lang, Mary Loeh, William Alberternst, James Alberternst, Daniel Alberternst; brothers-in-law, Vernon Noll, Wayne Gutzler, Conrad Stone, Frank Seitz and Alan Loeh.
