Lawanda “June” Cain, age 75, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends after courageously fighting cancer for four years, at her home in Mason, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3 at Little Prairie Baptist Church in Jackson Township, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Ronnie Newman will be officiating. Burial will be at Little Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson Township, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to Cardinal Glennon Orthopedic Unit, Little Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery or donor’s choice.

June was born on April 18, 1942 in Jackson Township, Illinois, the daughter of Wilbert and Neva (Higgs) Ullrich. She married Harold K. Cain on May 9, 1958 in Effingham, Illinois. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her five sons, Harold Cain Jr. of Mason, Illinois, Howard Cain ( wife Amy) of Mason, Illinois, James Cain (wife Amy) of Boss, Missouri, Mike Cain of Mason, Illinois and Darryl Cain (wife Terri) of Mason, Illinois; daughter, Kathy Cramsey (husband Lee) of Mason, Illinois; brother, Joey Ullrich (wife Mary) of Altamont, Illinois; two sisters, Judy Kuhlman (husband Gerald) of Mason, Illinois and Joyce McClelland (husband Dean) of Sigel, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Neva Ullrich; husband, Harold Cain and three brothers, Jackie Ullrich, Jerry Ullrich and James Ullrich.
