Dennis Eugene Cornwell, age 60, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 9:09 AM - Friday, June 23, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Dennis, will be held at 4:00 PM – Wednesday, June 28 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Mike Knepper officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.

Dennis was born on August 1, 1956, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Dale and Leslie Rosina (Lester) Cornwell. He married Edith Seeley and she survives. Dennis was a professional over the road truck driver for Hribar Transport for the past 12 years. Dennis served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and doing mechanic work.
Dennis is survived by: Wife of 30 years – Edith Cornwell of Dieterich, Illinois; Children – Ashley (Jimmy) Cornwell-Baker of Effingham, Illinois and Phil Cornwell of Dieterich, Illinois; Brothers and Sisters – George (Bev) Cornwell of Batavia, Illinois; Elaine Cornwell of Montrose, Illinois; Lori Ponds of Walkingham, North Carolina; Kathy (Bob) Mallernee of Mattoon, Illinois; Rose Dalene Lester of Wheeler, Illinois; Jeanie “Wanda” Sparks of Watson, Illinois; Ruby (Bob) Goode of Wheeler, Illinois and Loretta (Dale) Tolliver of Claremont, Illinois.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Shirley Harris, Helen Marie Landes and Debbie Ellen Cornwell and a brother Donnie Cornwell.
