Loretta Mae Quast (89) formerly of Stewardson

Loretta Mae (Bales) Quast, 89, formerly of Stewardson, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.  

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Effingham with Reverend David McConnell officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, June 23 from 4-7 p.m. at Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.  Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson.  Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Effingham or the Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.  

Loretta was born September 7, 1927, in rural Shelby County, the daughter of William and Ruby (Crowder) Bales.  She married Charles Quast October 19, 1946.  Charles preceded her in death October 13, 1995. For many years she worked at the Stew-Stras School helping in the kitchen and was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Effingham.  

Surviving are her four children: Gerald (wife Arlene) Quast of Charleston, Sharon (husband Mark) Knaus of Effingham, Dennis (wife Lisa) Quast of Crossville, TN, and Julie (husband David) Slifer of Effingham; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie Koester and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles.
