Myron ‘Bob’ Phillips(85) of Altamont

Myron ‘Bob’ Phillips, 85, of Altamont, formerly of Beecher City, died at 7:13 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Dennis Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Beecher City Cemetery. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center or the donor’s choice.

Bob was born on Tuesday, September 1, 1931 in rural Moccasin to Thomas L. and Alice Lucille (Doty) Phillips. He married Betty Little on July 3, 1950. He was retired from Crossroads Press, Effingham.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Betty Phillips of Altamont; son, Doug Phillips and his wife Jeanette of Altamont; daughter, Carol Steele and her husband Dennis of Beecher City; step brothers, Bill Lilly of Florida and Oren Lilly of Kentucky; sisters, Opal Baker of Effingham, Doris ‘Doy’ Peters of Altamont, and Bonnie Kemme of Beecher City; 4 grandchildren, Daniel Steele, Chris Phillips, Ashley Phillips, and Caitlin Phillips; great grandson, Brody Phillips.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Jeff Lilly, brother, Larry Phillips, a brother in infancy, and a stepsister.
