Leota E. Reynolds, 96, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Leota was born on February 19, 1921 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Louis W. and Hilda C. (Diepholz) Lenz. She was baptized on March 6, 1921 and confirmed on March 25, 1934 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. She married James W. Reynolds on December 12, 1946 in Hot Springs, AR. 
 
Leota was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. She loved to go fishing with her husband in Arkansas, and she loved her dogs “Corky” and “Cookie.” After the death of her husband, she moved to Effingham. Leota served as a hostess at McDonald’s in Effingham for thirty years and retired at the age of ninety. The things that she truly loved were her church first, and then family and friends.
 
Leota is survived by her 2 nieces, Barbara (Steve) Gordon of Niles, MI and Marcie (Bill) Smith of Peoria, IL; nieces-in-law, Dorothy Weber of Effingham and Peggy Weber of Bloomington-Normal; 9 great-nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.W.; sister, Velma Weber; brother, Honore W. Lenz; and nephews, Michael Weber and David Weber.
