Ronald R. Seiler, 76, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
 
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a 6:30 p.m. Effingham Knights of Columbus Rosary and Fourth Degree Rites at Johnson Funeral home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham.

Ronald was born on November 29, 1940 in Effingham, IL, the son of Albert and Bernice (Michl) Seiler. 
 
Ron was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, Effingham Knights of Columbus Council 665 as a Fourth Degree, Effingham American Legion Post 120, and a lay minister of the Third Order of St. Francis. Ron served his country in the United States Army. He worked at Fedders for 10 years. Ron then started working for the City of Effingham’s Water Department for 20 years and the city cemetery for 4 years. After that he started working at St. Anthony School as a maintenance man for 11 years. Ron was dedicated in helping with the Appalachia Clothing Drive for many years. He enjoyed gardening and walking his sisters’ dog “Molly.” Over the years, Ron was an extensive traveler who visited 16 foreign countries. He was always friendly, kind-hearted, and considered others before himself. Ron especially valued his family and friends. 
 
Ron is survived by his brothers, Ralph (Mary) Seiler of Effingham, Gary (Sharon) Seiler of Effingham, John (Cindy) Seiler of St. Peters, MO, and Albert Jr. (Doris) Seiler of Effingham; sisters, Carol Seiler and Mary Jo Seiler both of Effingham; and sister-in-law, Ruby Seiler of Teutopolis; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nadine Bovard; brother-in-law, Glenn Bovard; and brother, Kenneth Seiler.
