Elda was born March 23, 1919 in rural Altamont, Mound Township, the first child of Theodor & Marie (Sy) Braasch. Elda was baptized by the Rev. Robert Ziemer and confirmed in her faith by the Rev. H.F. Guse at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont. She married George Boyer of Danville, IL on October 17, 1943, near Mineral Wells, Texas. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Parochial School, Martin Box School, and then graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1938. She attended Eastern Illinois Teachers College, where she met her future husband. She resided in Texas, Danville, IL and since 1987 in Ellenton, Florida. Her most recent residence was in Palmento, FL with her “angel care givers”, Larry and Brenda Rogers. Elda taught 1st grade and Home Economics at Trinity Lutheran School, was a typesetter and a clerk at Walgreen’s Drug Store. She was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Church Choir, and Hand Bell Choir. She was an active member of Home Extension and had a keen interest in family genealogy, tracing family history to the 1500’s. Elda was also a member of the Genealogy Society, Daughters of Union Soldiers and the Huguenot Society.  Her love of tracing family history moved her to travel throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, as well as Germany and the Holy Land.

Elda is survived by brother Gerhard and sister in law Luella Gust Braasch, several nephews and nieces, and special friends and care givers Brenda and Larry Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brother Marcus and sister in law Edna (Berg) Braasch, sister Henrietta (Braasch) Beccue and brother in law Delbert Beccue.
