Charles Laroy Morgan, 84, of Toledo, IL passed away at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL surrounded by family, at 11:10am Thursday, May 4, 2017.

Memorial service with Military Rites will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 9 at the Toledo Christian Church with memorial visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery at a later date. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family. As per Charlie’s request, casual wear and Chicago Cubs apparel are welcome.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Toledo Christian Church in Toledo, IL.

Charles was born on April 8, 1933 in Trilla, IL the son of Charles Dewey and Daisy (Nichols) Morgan. He married Lilis Redfern on December 8, 1951.

He is survived by his wife Lilis, son Douglas (Julie) Morgan and daughter Debra (Dave) Clark all of Toledo; eight grandchildren Jennifer and Johnathon Morgan; Mariah and Zachariah (Jill) Bolin; Jennifer Richards, Christina (Joe) Hickox; and Jeffrey and Rebecca Clark (Brandon Custard); five great-grandchildren, Luke and Ryan Richards and Callie Jo and Chase Hickox, and Jayson Custard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jimmy and Billy, and one sister Vida.

He was a member of the Toledo Christian Church and the Toledo American Legion. Charles graduated from Cumberland High School in 1951. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. Charles was employed as the Superintendent of Utilities for the Village of Toledo and City of Roodhouse, IL. He retired as a co-owner of Toledo Plumbing and Heating.
