Edna Grace Hinkel age 97 of Olney passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Kaleb Kemper officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dundas Cemetery, Dundas, Illinois. Memorial gifts in honor of Edna may be made to the Dundas Cemetery Care Fund.

Edna was born on August 9, 1919 in Pocahontas, Arkansas the daughter of Homer and Ina (Witsman) Wartsbaugh. On February 10, 1942, Edna married Scott Hinkel in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1995.  A daughter, Janice Hinkel also preceded her in death on October 27, 2012. Edna spent her life as a farm wife and mother to her three children. For many years, she was a salesclerk at the Ben Franklin store in Olney. Edna’s greatest love was her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna and Scott enjoyed helping their neighbors and friends, by lending a helping hand. She loved gardening and the outdoors.

Edna will be loved and remembered by her son Galen Hinkel, wife Barb of Olney; daughter Carla Wesner, husband Tony of Olney; four grandchildren, Todd Hinkel, Cara Hinkel-Schroth, Troy Hinkel and Peyton Wesner; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Her parents, brothers Raymond and Clarence Wartsbaugh and an infant sister preceded her in death.
