Carole R. McKean, 78, of Altamont died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 1 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Chris Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church (ELCA), Altamont or the donor’s choice.

Carole R. McKean was born on Friday, September 2, 1938 in Nokomis, IL to Virgil and Velma (Brackenhoff) Brackenhoff. She married Robert McKean on August 12, 1956 at the Hagarstown Methodist Church. She was employed at the Altamont IGA for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (ELCA).

She is survived by: her husband of over 50 years, Robert of Altamont; sons, Michael L. (Gaye) of Columbia, MO, Dennis L. McKean of Effingham, and Russell L. (Liliana) of Houston; daughter, Nancy L. (Wayne) Tate of Greencastle, IN; brother, Joe (Sherri) Richmond of Springfield; 6 grandchildren, C.W. Tate, Tiffany Campbell, Katherine McKean and Laura McKean Ali, Victoria McKean and Ericka McKean; 5 great grandchildren, Rebecca Tate, Harmony Tate, Melody Tate, Caleb Campbell and Zain Ali and many nieces and nephews.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert L. McKean, brothers, Bob, Ronnie, and Butch Brackenhoff, sister, Dorothy Stokes.
