Mary Marguerite Turner Mandel age 90 of Carlinville, IL formerly of Jasper County passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Newton Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21 at Carlinville First with Pastor Steve Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday in the church. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Brooks Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorial gifts in honor of Marguerite may be made to Carlinville First, 18772 Route 4, Carlinville, Illinois 62626.

Marguerite was born on April 4, 1927 in Jasper County, Illinois one of seven children born to the union of Everett Maurice and Lula Francis (Noffsinger) Turner. On September 25, 1964, Marguerite married George Edward Mandel. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2007. Marguerite was a 1948 graduate of Newton High School. She completed her degree in elementary education, graduating from Catholic Teachers College of Providence in 1958. Marguerite taught in Rhode Island as well as at St. Thomas School in Newton. Following her marriage, she joined with her husband in evangelistic ministry. Together, they served through the Illinois District Counsel Assemblies of God until their retirement. Marguerite was a member of Carlinville First where she held an active role in the shut-in ministry and visitation programs. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and playing dominoes. Marguerite will be loved and remembered by several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and great-great grandniece and grandnephew Emma and Elias Inyart of Newton.

Her parents, husband George, and siblings Daniel Turner, Elza Turner, Elsie Haggard, Frank Turner, Eileen Pearman and Ed Turner preceded her in death.
