James C. “Jimmy Joe” Price, 70, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 5:16 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 15 at Scott Avenue Christian Church in rural Newton with Mark Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Willow Hill.  Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 14 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton and also one-half hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Scott Avenue Building Fund. James C. better known as “Jimmy Joe” was born in Willow Hill September 3, 1942 the son of Ernie and Violet (Kidwell) Price. He married Becky Roberts September 21, 1963 in Newton. Jimmy Joe retired from Newton Broom after 44 years of service. He was known by many as a bartender at Hi-Bender’s in Ste. Marie and the KC Hall in Newton. He was a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and fishing.

He is survived by, his wife of 49 years Becky Price of Newton; daughters, Misty (husband Bob) Kurtz of Newton and Heidi (husband Danny) Fitts of Oblong; grandchildren, Aaron (wife Kara) Kurtz, Kashtyn (husband Tyler) Shull; Kaley Fitts and Brock Fitts; great-grandson, Noah Kurtz and one great-grandson expected in December; sister, Rowena (husband Mike) Swisher of Willow Hill.

Jimmy Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
