Ronald Keith “Butch” Olmstead, 80, of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 4:55 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services will be on Monday, April 3 at 10:00 am at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Toledo Volunteers.

Butch was born in Toledo, Illinois on July 9, 1936, the son of Arthur and Faye (Stewart) Olmstead. He married Helen Yovonne Gentry on May 20, 1955. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2013.

Surviving are children Roxie (Steve) Gentry of Toledo, Larry Olmstead of Midlothian, TX, Tim (Sandy) Olmstead of Toledo. He was Grandad to Rachel (David) Cutts, Melinda Erin James, Janet Duran, Jake (Jenny) Olmstead, Jordan (Melissa) Gentry, Andrew (Heather) Olmstead, Alexis (Dave) Nichols, Whitney (Chris) Edwards, Trey (Samantha) Olmstead, Jeffery (Clarissa) Olmstead and two step-grandchildren, Heather James and Zak Yocum; thirty great grandchildren. Butch was especially proud of his fifth generation great-great grandson, Tripp Michael Mason James, born February 5, 2016. He is also survived by one brother Lee Olmstead of Carrollton, IL, sister Betty Lou Olmstead of Mattoon and special friends, Linda Robards and Frances Lashmet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, Ben and Roger “Slugger” Olmstead and sisters Lois “Pete” Ohem, Jane Roberts, Phyllis Jean Olmstead, Doris Light and Joan Titus.

Butch was owner and operator of Bag and Barrier Corp. in Toledo for many years. He was a past member of Toledo Kiwanis and a member of Toledo Masonic Lodge #834 AF & AM. Butch loved to golf and spend time with his family and being Grandad.
