Maryellen Lovett, age 103, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 9:31 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, Illinois. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo, Illinois. Dan Laack will be officiating. Memorials may go to St. Elmo Elementary School, St. Elmo Methodist Church, St. Elmo Library or donor’s choice.

Maryellen was born on February 16, 1914, the daughter of Roy and Frederica (Grieder) Smith. She married W. Wilson Lovett on January 16, 1938 in St. Elmo, Illinois. She was a member of the International Association of Rebekah, HCE and the Methodist Church in St. Elmo, Illinois. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, doing word search puzzles and bird watching.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Spitler of St. Elmo, Illinois; 2 grandchildren, Alison Spitler-Griffith and Aleta Triplett; one great-grandchild, Sierra Triplett and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frederica Smith; husband, W. Wilson Lovett; brother, Dan Ritchie; two step-brothers, Ted and Carl Elam; sister, Rosalie Smith and one granddaughter, Janice Spitler.
