Lela Faye Brown, 86, of Altamont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Hubbartt Cemetery in Beecher City with Pastor Jim Watts officiating. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.

Lela was born January 5, 1931, in Mode, the daughter of Bernard and Mildred (Phillips) Gruenewald. She married Loye Olen Brown in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She worked for 76 and retired from the Glove Factory both in Effingham. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, playing scrabble and handheld video games.

She is survived by daughters Dianna Miller of Altamont and Donna Boone of Texarkana, TX; son Edward Brown of Effingham; eleven grandchildren:  Steve Miller, Mike Miller, Gabe (Tina) Brown, Jenne Brown, Christopher Brown, Paula Brown, Charles May, Joey Kline, Olen Brown Jr., Tim Dickens and Chrissy Blacker; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Iris Ruth Stewart of Effingham and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Loye, daughter Debbie, sons Michael and Olen, and brother-in-law Jack Stewart Sr.
