Catherine Louise Haynes, 74, of Vandalia, went home to be with the Lord at 4:32 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Fayette County Hospital, Long Term Care, Vandalia. 
 
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will follow at Nichols-Nickles Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Brownstown Christian Church Building Fund.
 
Catherine Louise Haynes was born on Friday, August 21, 1942 in Spring Point Township in Cumberland County, Illinois to Lester and Lois (Litchenwalter) Lake. She was a long time member of Four Mile Christian Church and attended Brownstown Christian Church where she was very active. Catherine will be remembered by those who knew her as a dedicated and caring mother, grandma, and friend. She never knew a stranger and loved to fellowship with others. 
 
She is survived by; daughters, Tena (Ron) Gould of Vandalia, Tammy (Jeff) Kinkel of Pocahontas, and Theresa (Monte) Wolke of Sigel; brothers, Pete (Linda) Lake of Villa Grove, and Leslie (Cheryl) Lake of Robinson; sister, Lenora Hudson of Trilla; grandchildren, Travis (Lauren) Gould, Tiffany (Jesse) Mumm, Trevor, Tanner, and Trista Kinkel, Lindsy, Monte Lee and Brett Wolke;  great grandchildren, Lennox Mumm and Brody Gould; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lake Pitcher of Greenup; and brother-in-law, Jerry Hardyman of Camargo.
 
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lawrence, Delmar, and Lester, Jr. Lake; sisters, Pauline  Hardyman, and Bessie (Marvin) Anthony and brother-in-law, Charles Hudson.
