Rita V. Cyr, 92, of Trowbridge, Illinois passed away at 7:00 A. M. Friday, March 10, 2017 in HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital of Effingham, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 13 in the St. Mary of The Assumption Church in Neoga with Pastor Father Sunder Ery officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P. M. Sunday with a Rosary at 7:45 P. M. Sunday, in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Trowbridge, IL. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born March 23, 1924, in Bement, Illinois, the daughter of J. Ernest and E. Frances (Monaghan) Meek. Rita married Patrick H, Cyr June 26, 1946 in Trowbridge, Illinois and Mr. Cyr passed away February 4, 1993. Rita was a housewife and a homemaker, she was also a Nurse's Aide for HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for eighteen years. Rita was a member of the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, IL, a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Council, Neoga American Legion Auxiliary, Friendly Neighbors Club, Neoga Card Club, all of Neoga. She was also a member of the T.H.E.O.S. Trowbridge Bunco Club, of Trowbridge, IL. Rita also served as  Election Judge for Big Spring Township for several years. Rita loved to square dance and travel.

Mrs. Cyr leaves two sons, Mike Cyr and wife Donna of Ashmore, IL and Tim Cyr and wife Debra of Trowbridge, IL; five daughters, Zita Cobble of Gilbertsville, KY, Martha Haarman and husband Jim of Stewardson, IL, Mary Ellen Cyr-Sanders of Gilbertsville, KY, Patty Henne and husband Everett of Toledo, IL and Toni Bell and husband Barry of Windsor, IL: one brother John Meek and wife Loretta of Trowbridge, IL; sixteen grandchildren and Twenty-one great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cyr was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick Cyr ; one son, Terry Cyr; two brothers, James E. and Teddy Meek; one sister, Frances Mary Meek; one granddaughter, Christina Suhl-Sanders; one great grandson, Emmit Haarman.
