Marie Fletcher, 78, of Montrose, Illinois, passed away at 9:40 PM – Friday, February 24, 2017, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Marie’s life will be held at 3:00 PM – Tuesday, February 28 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of Marie, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Marie was born on May 20, 1938, in Sigel, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Vena (Gilmore) Verdeyen. She married Donald Wayne Fletcher on December 25, 1954 in Dieterich, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1994. Marie worked as a waitress at the Montarosa in Montrose, Illinois for several years. She enjoyed crafting and playing bingo. Marie was an excellent cook and was most notable for her homemade noodles and potato salad.

Marie is survived by: Children – Linda (Mike) Malicoat of O’Fallon, Missouri, Steve Fletcher and Bruce Fletcher both of Montrose, Illinois; Grandchildren – Kimberly (Art) Meddows, Shelia (Rob) Carr, Nick Fletcher, Michael (Rachel) Malicoat, Ashley (Matt) Printz and Kayla Fletcher; 11 Great Grandchildren and twin boys to be born soon; Brother – Ralph Verdeyen of Montrose, Illinois.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Carl Verdeyen.
