Floyd W. Gephart, 88, of rural Dieterich, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home in Elliotstown, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, February 6 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Floyd to Winterrowd Christian Church or HSHS Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Floyd was born on September 15, 1928, the son of Dan and Violet (Woody) Gephart. He married Velma Holman on October 22, 1992. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling throughout his life. He very much enjoyed time with his family. Floyd was also a member of Winterrowd Christian Church.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 24 years, Velma “Val” of rural Dieterich; 3 sons, Roger (Ronda) of Tunnel Hill, Donnie (Doris) of Dieterich, and Alan ”Flip” (Paula) of Brownstown; daughter, Darla (Scott) Otto of Wakefield, KS; and step-son, Darrell Holman of Louisville. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Arlin and Howard both of Dieterich; and sisters, Ada Gossman of Dieterich, Pearl Christianson of Blytheville, AR, and Hazel (Richard) Eaton of Plainfield, IL, as well as 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Caroline; brothers, Ernest and Glen; and sisters, Vercelia Inman, Louise Morgret, and Leona Leamons.
