Victor Eugene "Vic" Painter, 55, of rural Effingham died Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2017 at his home near Lake Sara.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 12 at 10:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont. Burial will take place at a later date in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday morning a short time before the memorial services at the church.Per his wishes, Vic will be cremated and a private family burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham care of the Home Care Department.

Victor was born August 20, 1957, the son of Bud and Emily Lewis-Painter. He married Sheryl Ann Lowry on July 28, 1978 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effingham, Illinois. Vic worked at the 76 Truck Plaza in Effingham for a number of years before working for his father at the Western Auto Store before it closed. Vic was proud of his work in security at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois for over 20 years. Vic loved his family and friends and anything outdoors as fishing, shooting and archery. The past few years of illness had limited his enjoyment for life, but loved his grandson and enjoyed watching him play.

He is survived by his: Wife: Sheryl Ann Painter...Daughter: Angela Painter...Son: Kyle and Grandson: Rigley Painter...Mother: Mrs. Emily Painter all of Effingham, Illinois...Brother: Tim (wife, Shelly) Painter of Silver Point, Tennessee...Sisters: Tonna (husband, Fred) Percival of Watson, Illinois and Dinah VanDelinder of Manito, Illinois...Mother-in-law: Mrs. Donald (Fran) Lowry of Effingham and Foley, Alabama...Brother-in-law: Donald Jr. (wife, Tina) Lowry of Foley, Alabama...and Several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by His: Father: Buddy “Bud” Painter...and Father-in-law: Donald Lowry Sr.
