Betty Lee (Wendt) Curry Mietzner, 90, passed away Wednesday morning, January 4, 2017 at her home in Stewardson.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shumway with burial in Stewardson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a C.C.W. rosary to follow. Memorials may be made to Effingham County Relay For Life.

Betty was born February 14, 1926 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Bruver) Wendt. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shumway and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Betty was retired from the Ramada Inn in Effingham, where she worked for many years.

Betty is survived by her three children, Patrick (Lina) Curry of Stewardson, Michael (Joyce) Curry of Effingham and Gean Ann Tabbert (special friend, Lyle McKinney) of Stewardson; seven grandchildren, Carmen (Julie) Micciancio, Amy (Dale) Doty, Melissa (Brian) Quast, Christy (Donald) Brown, Christopher (Nikki) Daniels, Matthew (Ashley) Daniels and Jacob (fiance, Shalyn) Tabbert; two step-grandchildren, Doug (fiance, Megan) Walker and Dee (Michael) Lasker; fourteen great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kourtney, Bella, Madison, Trevor, Austin, Bryce, Marisa, Carrah, Trey, Madalyne, Tryston, Lydia and Lainey; four step-great-grandchildren, Gabe, Isaac, Emily and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, three sisters and one step-great-grandson, Tyler.
