Vera Caroline (nee Pieper) Budde, 79, of Mason, IL, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by her loving family.
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 16, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville, IL, with Pastor Joel Oschwald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Vera to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville,IL, c/o cemetery fund or donor’s choice. Vera Caroline was born on January 27, 1937, to Edwin and Bernadine (Arnold) Pieper in rural Strasburg.She was baptized on February 24, 1937 into the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg.
 
Vera married Lawrence Budde on April 1, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. Through their 60 years of marriage they built the family farm where the values and principles of hard work were instilled and humbly carried with them as they raised their children.
 
Vera was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Louisville, and also the Ladies Aid and LWML where she held various offices in each.
 
Vera is survived by her husband, Lawrence Budde of Mason and their five children, Alan (Cathy) Budde of Mason, Cindy (Sam) Williams of Kevil, KY, Brad (Vicky) Budde of Mason, Janet (Bruce) Smithenry of Newton, and Deb Bergbower of Newton; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and the fourth due in December; and 4 siblings, Kenneth Pieper of Strasburg, Paul (Dee) Pieper of Effingham, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Beemer of Wake Forest, NC, and Linda (George “Butch”) Gullion of Mattoon.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Edwin Pieper Jr.
