Kodie M. Hollinshead, 19, of Teutopolis, Illinois, died Sunday, October 23, 2016, as a result from injuries sustained in an ATV accident in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, with the Rev. Van Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home.

Kodie was born on July 14, 1997, in Mattoon, the son of David and Kathleen (Mettendorf) Hollinshead.

Kodie was a graduate of Teutopolis High School in Teutopolis. He was a sophomore at Lake Land College majoring in mechanics. He worked at the Auto Mall in Effingham as a mechanic and auto detailer. He had a love for trucks, 4-wheelers, and motorcycles. Kodie also enjoyed fishing, swimming, motorcycle racing, horseback riding and playing pool. He and his friends built a boat with a weed-eater motor which powered the boat on the river. Kodie was a kind-hearted gifted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He always had a beautiful smile and loved life to the fullest.

Kodie is survived by his parents, David and Kathy Hollinshead of Teutopolis; sister, Cindy (husband Keith) Einhorn of Wheeler, brother, Jeremy Dalton of Mason, sister, Rachel Verdeyen of Effingham; paternal grandmother, Imogene Hollinshead of Salem; niece, Samantha Dalton; nephews, Tyler Douthit, Kayne Verdeyen, Joe Einhorn, Brandon Einhorn and Cory Einhorn and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis Mettendorf and Agnes Mettendorf-Buening; paternal grandfather, Raymond Hollinshead Jr. and uncle, Joe Hollinshead.
