Marsha Kay Finn-Antonik, age 53 of Newton, IL peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord at 4:51 PM – Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Funeral services celebrating Marsha’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Friday, October 26, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Newton, IL with Rev. Stephen Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, IL.
Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM – Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the church. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund or Gift of Hope. Arrangements are under the care of the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. Online condolences may be left by clicking here. Marsha was born on August 12, 1959, in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Larry W. Mulvey and Barbara (Cooley) Mulvey. She married John David Finn on September 2, 1978 in Newton. From that union came 3 children Tami Ann, Jared David and Allison Jayne Finn. She later married Andy Antonik on May 2, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada and he survives.
A Wife, Mom, Daughter, Grammy, and Sister, Marsha truly loved her family, particularly her grandchildren and children. Having survived two liver transplants, the first in November 1994 and the second in January 2010, Marsha definitely loved life and all that knew her can attest to her red-headed spirit and zest for life! This infectious spirit could be experienced when you spoke with Marsha about her love of the New York Jets, anything softball and Longaberger baskets. She would proudly tell you that she was her son’s number one fan in harness racing and loved watching him race at the county and state fairs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newton and a strong advocate for organ transplantation and the CaringBridge Organization website where her medical journey has been documented for the past three years.
She was a graduate of Olney Central College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She enjoyed her work and spending time with her co-workers at the Jasper County Health Department in Newton.
She will be loved and remembered by her loving family. Her husband of 9 years – Andy Antonik of Newton, IL; Parents Larry and Barbara Mulvey of Newton, IL. Three children Tami Ann (husband Ryan) Michl of Newton, IL; Jared David Finn of Beecher, IL and Allison Jayne (special friend Anthony Meinhart) Finn of Newton, IL. Three step-children Frank Antonik of Paducah, KY; Jennifer (fiance’ Robert Craven) Antonik of Paducah, KY; and Andi Antonik of Mattoon, IL. Five grandchildren Hunter David-Lee Michl, Graci Kaylynn Michl, Marli Jayann Michl, Gavin Michael Meinhart, and Kinli Leeann Michl and one step-grandchild Lynlee Craven. Four siblings Carol (special friend Jim Nix) Dooley of Newton, IL; David (wife Eizabeth) Mulvey of Henderson, NV; Mark (wife Pamela) Mulvey of Dundas, IL; and Jeanie (husband Max) Massey of Pearland, TX;
several nieces and nephews and a host of other family members.
Marsha was preceded in death by her grandparents Dwight Cooley, Vera Cooley, and Lucile Cooley, Woodrow and Helen Mulvey.
