Mildred “Millie” Irene Wheeler, 75, of Cowden passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden followed by a 12:30 p.m. graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Cowden with Reverend Darrell Hinkle officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

She was born on August 11, 1941, at home in Dixie, Fayette County, the daughter of Helton Buchanon and Ruth Emily (Rentfro) Miller. Millie was a member of the Shelbyville Moose Lodge and served as a Senior Regent. She was active for several years on a Shelbyville bowling league. Millie was retired from FS in Shelbyville and Middlesworth.

She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Fred; son Michael W. (Barbie) Wheeler of Cowden; daughters Deanna (Gary) Hall of Cowden and Julie (Jay) Coin of Beecher City; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Daisy (Tracy) Logsdon of Cowden, Connie Longwell of Herrin and Ruby Hicks of Lakewood.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters Mary Sylvester, Katie Morgan and Delores Sinclair; brothers Gene Miller, Paul Miller and James Miller.
