Edith Sudkamp (92) of Altamont, formerly of rural Sigel

Edith Sudkamp, 92, of Altamont, formerly of rural Sigel died at 9:30pm Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Friday, August 12 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the church and from 9:30am to service time Friday morning at Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel. Memorials may be made to the St. Michael School of Sigel, IL.

Edith was born February 19, 1924, in Neoga Township, Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of John T. and Cecilia M. (Kleiss) Walk. She married Harold Frank Sudkamp September 30, 1944 in Neoga, IL. She was a member of the St. Michael The Archangel  Church and the Ladies Sodality, both of Sigel, Illinois, a housewife and homemaker. Edith enjoyed visiting with her  family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed helping anyone wherever she could.

Mrs. Sudkamp leaves her children, Sister Sandra Sudkamp, OSF of Effingham, IL, Alan Sudkamp of Effingham, IL, Phil Sudkamp and wife Betty of Sigel, IL, Brian Sudkamp and wife Julie of Effingham, IL, Dan Sudkamp and wife Jane of St. Louis, MO, Jeff Sudkamp and wife Jane Teutopolis, IL, and Julie Probst and husband Kent of Teutopolis, IL; one sister, Thelma Mette of Effingham, IL; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sudkamp was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold F. Sudkamp; one daughter-in-law, Connie Sudkamp; two sisters, Emily Rentfrow and Dorthea Walk.
