Kenneth M. “Kenny” Seiler, 84 of Effingham, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with entombment in Woodlawn Mausoleum with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a Knights of Columbus rosary to follow. Memorials may be made to the Effingham Public Library or to the donor’s choice.

Kenny was born on February 11, 1932 in Decatur, the son of Albert and Bernice (Michl) Seiler. He married Marian Waldhoff on April 21, 1956 in Shumway and she preceded him in death in 1998. Kenny then married Ruby (Riley) Grubaugh and she survives. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665 and was a member of the Effingham American Legion Post #120 for over 50 years. Kenny served with the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was the owner of Seiler’s Sunoco Service Station in Effingham from 1967 to 1978. Kenny received the Operation Pride Award from the city of Effingham for the beautification of the facility for three consecutive years, and was also recognized by Sun Oil Company in their Stand Out With Pride program. He was employed with Laue Motor Company and later managed Gasland Sunoco in Effingham. He then went on to do maintenance for PSI from 1993 until his retirement in 2001.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Ruby of Effingham; son, David (Susan) Seiler of Effingham; three daughters, Nina (Gene) Jackson of Effingham, Janet (Jim) Sudkamp of Sigel and Rose (Aaron) Huffmaster of Stewardson; five grandchildren, Brian (Meghan) Jackson, Brandon (Meredith) Jackson, Adam Seiler, Maggie Seiler and Dane Seiler; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Simon Jackson; five brothers,Ralph (Mary) of Effingham, Gary (Sharon) of Effingham, Ronnie of Effingham, John (Cindy) of St. Peters, MO and Albert Jr. (Doris) of Effingham; two sisters, Carol Seiler and Mary Jo Seiler, both of Effingham; six step-children, Michael (Judy) Grubaugh, Robert (Debra) Grubaugh, Richard (Starr) Grubaugh, Randy Grubaugh, Steve (Ashley) Grubaugh and Tina (Tim) Border; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Vicki) Waldhoff, Richard Waldhoff, Joseph “Jr.” Waldhoff and Dale (Carole) Waldhoff; sister-in-law, Lucille Reardon; twenty step-grandchildren and sixteen step-great-grandchildren also survive.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marian; sister, Nadine Bovard; brothers-in-law, Bud Waldhoff, John Schumacher, Glenn Bovard and Dan Reardon; sister-in-law, Patricia Schumacher.
