James Richard McDaniel, 83, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham with a greeting of the family for food and fellowship immediately following the service. Pastor Kevin Colclasure will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church or Christ’s Church of Effingham. Jim was born November 25, 1928 in Flora, IL the son of Mark and Thelma (Moore) McDaniel. He married Lulu Atchison on October 6, 1954.  Jim owned Effingham Truck Sales Inc. from 1965 until the present and was the former owner/operator of Effingham Truck Plaza until 1990. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 – 1952. He was awarded Effingham Citizen of the Year in 2008. He was also a Mason and Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Lulu. Daughters; Julie, husband Aaron Koester, Jill, husband Mark Steppe and Jayme, husband Jim Lustig all of Effingham. Grandchildren; Josh Koester and Katie Koester. Adam Steppe, Alex Steppe and Jaclyn Steppe. Olivia Lustig and Luke Lustig. Step grandchildren; Sarah Stoecker, Drue Koester and Louis Koester. Step great grandchild; Lyla Van Meter. Sister, Marilyn and husband Ron Fisher of Lansing, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
