Roger Strickler, 63, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. According to Roger’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded after visitation. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Roger to the family.

Roger was born on January 14, 1953, in Wabash, IN, the son of Arthur and Edith (Leach) Strickler. He married Sandra Kirby on December 22, 1991 in Stewardson, IL, and she survives. Roger was an avid Harley rider. He was a life member of the National HOG Organization, as well as a past director of the Central Illinois HOG Chapter. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also was a chef for many local restaurants. Roger was currently employed in the press room at Peerless of America in Effingham.

Roger is survived by his wife, Sandy Strickler of Effingham; son, Justin (Jessica) Strickler of Stewardson; daughter, Heather (David) Johnson of Louisville; step-son, David (Christel) Matheny of Springfield, IL; and step-daughter, Diana  (Leon Lee) Ludtke of Grant, NE; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Vivian) Strickler of Decatur, IL and Bob Strickler of Huntington, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Strickler, Charles Strickler, and Gene Strickler; and sister, Barbara Schwaab.
