Betty L. Whalen Henderson, 88, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 6:00 am on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday April 19 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Betty was born in Jasper County on June 29, 1927 to Hal & Reba (Moore) Romack. She married Bill Whalen in June 1946 and he preceded her in 1978. She later married Russell Henderson and he preceded her in death.
Surviving is a son Rex Whalen and special friend Linda of Round Rock, TX; daughter Sandy (Herb) Steidinger of Charleston, IL; step daughter Janet Henderson of Newton; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Betty was preceded by her parents, a son Eric Whalen, step children Larry Henderson and Carol Volkman; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Betty was a homemaker, member of the Rose Hill Science Club the Rose Hill Church. She loved to play Pinochle watch the Cubs and Illini Basketball.
