Scott was born in Quincy, IL, on June 13, 1966, to Peter J. Schlipmann of Milwaukee, WI and Catherine Ann McDevitt Platt of Effingham. He has lived in Effingham for the past four years. Scott spent many years driving a semi throughout the United States; first for various marketing companies and later for a party/tent supply company. He loved driving and seeing the country. When health concerns forced him to give up driving, he studied pastry preparation at the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Orlando, FL. As a pastry chef, he specialized in cake decorating. After coming to Effingham, his cakes were the highlights at many family celebrations. Scott loved to read, watch the History channel, and participate in games of strategy. Due to health concerns, he conducted extensive research on treatments, diets, medical procedures, etc. and apprised himself of the ongoing empirical findings.

Scott is survived by his parents; his sisters, Julie, Katie, and Jenny, all of Milwaukee, WI, as well as two nephews, Elias and Joao, and niece, Kailee; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends throughout the country.

Scott was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, two aunts, six uncles, and step-father. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
