Roger Hamilton Bridges, 79, of Windsor passed away at 1:48 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, April 7 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Pastor Jeff Brookins of Windsor Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Wednesday. Burial will be in the Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor. Memorials to Windsor Christian Church, Moultrie Co. Beacon or donor’s choice.

Roger was born April 6, 1936 in Mattoon, Illinois, the only child of E. Ward and Helen Hamilton Bridges. He was a businessman in Windsor owning Bridges Sales and Service. In those business years, he was a Marathon Oil dealer, also providing lawn mower sales and service, converting trucks into grain trucks, and was the largest volume dealer of Leer toppers in Illinois. As a lifelong resident of Windsor, he was active in church and community affairs. He was a member of the Windsor Christian Church serving as deacon and elder. He was a member of the Windsor Fire Department and served as secretary of the Windsor Fire Protection District. He was a member of the Windsor Kiwanis Club, serving in the offices of the club and one of those organizing the Windsor Harvest Picnic for the years that Kiwanis was responsible for it. He has served a term on the Windsor City Council.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 60 years, Eileen; and their children, Cindy Bridges, Sharlene Brown and husband Randy, Steven Bridges and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Aaron White, who made his home with the Bridges, Kristen Chumbley and husband Clayton, Diane Bridges, Elizabeth Bridges and Katy Bridges; and great-granddaughter, Kara Chumbley.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his daughter, Becky Bridges.
